Utah PTA Advocacy Conference

Utah PTA is pleased to announce their Annual Advocacy Conference October 22, 2015 at the Jordan School District Auxiliary Office. The address is 7905 Redwood Road in West Jordan. However, should you be able to attend, please enter the parking lot from 7800 South and come in the north entrance.

The Utah PTA is a non-profit, grassroots, child advocacy association made up of parents, teachers, and students. The legislative program of the Utah PTA is derived from the work of PTA in home, school, and community.  PTA efforts “to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth” are based upon: (1) the recognition of the home as the foundation of our society; (2) parental involvement as an essential component of all policy-making processes pertaining to children; (3) the observance and understanding of the rights and obligations of responsible citizenship and ethical government; and, (4) the realization that maintaining a free and public education system is a cornerstone of democracy.  Utah PTA advocacy is based upon the actions called for by the Utah PTA through resolutions and position statements.

We are excited to have the Education Commissioner Cheryl Phipps and Region 3 Dir. LeAnn Woods present on the topic of Common Core Standards. The commissioners have selected great workshops for you. We will also have two resolutions for the membership to vote on.

Registration is only $10.00 this year, which includes lunch. Thank you Jordan School District and Texas Road House! With this great price you should be able to bring more people with you, which will build your advocacy team. Onsite registration starts at 8:00am with a short welcome at 8:45am and 3 workshops following on the hour, lunch, keynote and business which should take us until about 2:30pm.
